Tuggz first exposure to music was in elementary school. between the 1st and 6th grades, tuggz played the violin, viola, clarinet, trombone, tuba and the trumpet during this period. his first exposure to large audiences was during his orchestra performances that drew crowds of up to 500. Tuggz began battle rapping in the 7th grade.

Influenced by artist like dj quik, bone thugs n harmony, mc breed and tupac. tuggz was hooked on the story lines and wordplay of his favorite artist. if i wasnt going through what the artist was rapping about, i was seeing it happen with my friends or family. tuggz remembered. tuggz became so good at battle rapping that it paid for his school lunch almost everyday.

By the time tuggz was in the 9th grade he had sold 300 units of his own cassette tape at $3.00 a piece. during summer school he recorded another tape selling 430 copies at east high school. this lead to his first show at a teen club located in downtown wichita. his tape sales exploded to over 500 units due to the strength of his live performances.

During his senior year in high school, tuggz performed live shows in other cities around kansas including garden city, lawrence and the ponca city areas. during this mini tour, tuggz released the underground hit 7-4 which sold over 800 copies. upon graduation from high school tuggz lived in kansas city, los angles, and eventually settled in las vegas.

He began to build a buzz by performing at open mic hip-hop venues across the city. tuggz worked with promoters to get him shows in the las vegas, phoenix and los angeles areas. tuggz began to work with a talent agent who got him work in a local recording studio where he got the opportunity to meet his rap mentors dj quik, dr. dre, and questlove.

A casting director from las vegas got tuggz his first acting gig playing a dj part in the hit las vegas tv show. by the time he turned 21, tuggz was performing live shows in las vegas every weekend. his uncle, terry weeks, who is the current lead singer for the temptations, inspired tuggz to become a better songwriter. in 2006, tuggz decided it was time to complete his first nationwide album. he decided to move to dallas texas where he joined the start-up independent record label, flow factory records.

This is where tuggz created his masterpiece, hood therapy. fans can expect tuggz to bring his intensely unique stage show to audiences across the nation. tuggz live shows play an important role, along with the release of hood therapy, in making him known as one of the most unique artist to ever come out of kansas.
